Introduction

In healthcare administration, it involves decisions made to ensure that the healthcare business system runs as expected and health facilities are maintained. Striking a balance is important in managing all the service providers. It facilitates offering quality care to the patients and the formulation of policies that govern all the individuals. This is also an important service since healthcare providers are able to work effectively and efficiently. In addition, if there is good healthcare management, the patients feel comfortable, safe and secure without getting worried about any service breakdown (Moore, Dotson, Dean, Rice, Piper, Johns & Elder, 2014).

Problem Identification

The greatest problem I see facing the healthcare administration is the continuous rising of cost. Costs are continuously rising and fewer measures are put to control it. This is mainly due to a lack of efficiency in how health workers operate and not being sensitive to wastage in the hospital. This results in a high overcharge to patients making healthcare services expensive. The healthcare providers are not efficient in that they themselves are not sure of the cost to charge a patient. This results in mistrust between the provider and the patient since the prizes are overrated. According to some surveys conducted in England, it reported that 17 % of the patients only have trust with the health professionals in the country. This could be because of the lack of good management and communication between the healthcare providers in the hospital and other staff members like the financial analysts.

 

 

Proposed Solution to the problem

One of the proposed solutions is that I would encourage all the citizens of a country to ensure they have a registered health insurance coverage that caters for their medical expenses in case of a chronic disease or a major infection. This is one of the ways to avoid so much money spending while undergoing treatment. Insurances are so helping mostly in case of emergencies and help in reducing the burden and overrated charges.

Another solution is having a standard prizing for the major chronic diseases mostly in Government healthcare centers which is subsidized. This will prevent overrated costs from the health providers that vary in different hospitals. Getting a standard prizing makes one prepared about the expected cost of treatment and hence becomes easier for him or her.

Another solution is cutting the marketing cost which is not so important in a Government healthcare Centre. This can be reduced by having the marketing strategies shifted from very expensive options of television media to less expensive options like the print media. This may cut the cost and make treatment affordable to many within the country.

Background of the issue

This is an issue that has been repeated over time in a number of years. The root cause being the lack of a clear and transparent management system. The healthcare providers in a hospital and the rest of the workers do not work together. Most of the healthcare providers in hospitals tend to do everything. They are responsible for the treatment and they also determine the cost. This is what has led to uncertain prizes. In America, a similar situation was noted whereby a hospital was charging $50,000 for a knee replacement and the required cost was $10,000. Such occurrence resulted in mistrust and hence 44% of Americans could decline to do consultation when sick and 40% could not take the prescribed dosage due to a fear of highly rated bills. The government, however, followed up on this and provided subsidized prizes for some of the diseases (Hall, 2013).

In case of any such situations reported, the specific committee will be held accountable and action is taken. This should even be a bill passed in Parliament to show the seriousness of the matter.
