NRP 730, Week 6 Assignment Discussion Essay
Documenting the Practicum Experience
The practicum component of this DNP project entails a range of activities, from engaging with participants, implementing the intervention, collecting data, and conducting the evaluation. Before starting the project, informed consent will be obtained from the parents or guardians of participating children. This process involves clearly explaining the purpose and procedures of the study and addressing any questions or concerns they may have (DNP Essential VIII: Advanced Clinical Practice). The central focus of the practicum experience will involve introducing and utilizing EndeavorRx, a digital therapeutic game designed for children diagnosed with ADHD (Pizzute, 2023). This includes guiding parents or caregivers through downloading and installing the game software while providing detailed instructions on effectively using it (DNP Essential I: Scientific Underpinnings for Practice).
During the practicum, assessments will be conducted before and after the intervention using various tools like the ADHD Rating Scale IV, the Kingston Cognition Assessment, and electroencephalograms. This process involves collaborating with other healthcare professionals and maintaining accurate records (Javed et al., 2020) (DNP Essential III: Clinical Scholarship and Analytical Methods for Evidence-Based Practice). Once the intervention is complete, data will be analyzed to evaluate the effectiveness of the EndeavorRx intervention; specifically, paired sample t-tests will be used. Subsequently, comprehensive reports on these findings will be prepared (DNP Essential III: Clinical Scholarship and Analytical Methods for Evidence-Based Practice). Therefore, valuable evidence-based insights will be obtained from the project through thorough assessments, rigorous data analysis, and documenting results appropriately. Continuous and effective communication with important stakeholders holds great significance during the practicum period. This entails the responsibility of constantly informing parents or caregivers about their children’s advancement, engaging in discussions with decision-makers at the clinic to relay findings, as well as collaborating with other healthcare professionals who are part of this project (DNP Essential II: Organizational and Systems Leadership for Quality Improvement and Systems Thinking).
Eventually, various activities are carried out to improve cognitive outcomes for children diagnosed with ADHD using an innovative intervention supported by evidence. It is crucial to acknowledge and prioritize ethical factors throughout this process, including obtaining informed consent from participants, protecting confidentiality, and ensuring equal access to the intervention (Dowdell & Fry-McComish, 2021). Engaging in these experiences within the practicum setting provides an opportune context to apply core concepts from DNP Essentials and effectively incorporate evidence-based practices into real-world scenarios.

Documenting the Practicum Experience
Discussion
Purpose
As already mentioned, you are required to complete 1,024 practicum hours for the DNP program. This may seem daunting at first; however, reviewing the different types of activities that align with each DNP Essential and how to document the hours correctly and consistently will help you prepare for the experience. The purpose of this assignment is to examine practices and processes used to accurately document the DNP practicum experience.
Instructions
Reflect on your readings this week and review the Project & Practicum Activities Form. Then, describe activities that you might complete during your Project & Practicum courses and identify the associated DNP Essential.
