Different Models and Frameworks Essay
Different Models and Frameworks Essay
Progressive change is inevitable in the current, fast-paced organizations. It is part of organizational growth that health care organizations need to improve their processes and outcomes. However, change does not occur in a vacuum. It requires adequate planning, a systematic approach, and robust leadership. Models and frameworks of change enable change leaders to facilitate change procedurally and systematically.
Kurt Lewin’s change model and Johns Hopkins Nursing evidence-based practice model are among the leading frameworks for facilitating change. Lewin’s change model comprises three stages: unfreezing, change, and the refreezing phase. According to Hussain et al. (2018), unfreezing involves preparing the organization for change by creating awareness of its need among employees and stakeholders. Awareness reduces resistance to change. In Lewin’s model, readiness is a precursor for successful change (Mahmood, 2018). Next, the change leader executes change once the organization is ready for change. Refreezing involves sustaining change and preventing people from reverting to the previous situation. Johns Hopkins model also involves three stages: practice question, searching for evidence, and translation into practice (Upstate Medical University, 2022). Its primary goal is to ensure that patient care incorporates the latest research findings and best practices to enhance outcomes.

After a comparative analysis, the Johns Hopkins model is the best for my evidence-based practice proposal. My proposal is reducing falls in the medical-surgical ward within 24 weeks. As the Johns Hopkins model proposes, the first step to solving this problem is formulating a practice question. The search for current scientific evidence follows before implementing the findings. Johns Hopkins model is a powerful, problem-solving approach designed to address practice problems through scientific evidence. It is also easy to implement since it has three basic steps that practicing nurses can implement without significant challenges.
