Setting and Access to the Potential Subjects

            This project entails controlling falls among elderly individuals using a TIPS tool. Therefore, the project setting is a geriatric ward offering care for elderly patients receiving treatment and management care for various conditions. Therefore, a criterion is to be used in getting the participants. As such, the patients to take part in the study will have to be at least sixty-five years old. The plan is to include every elderly patient admitted to the geriatric wards during the study. It is worth mentioning that the data to be collected from the patients do not need any informed consent. However, the institution will have to obtain permission to carry out the study.

The Project Timeline

            A project timeline is an important part of the project implementation process. Therefore, an appropriate timeline must be suggested to enable a complete and successful implementation process (Portney, 2020). It is envisioned that this project will take a duration of twelve months. During this time, various activities related to the project will be accomplished. Such activities include; proposal formulation and submission, getting approval, coming up with the stakeholder team, strategy formulation, necessary training, project implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and feedback.

Budget and Resource List

            A timeous procurement and acquisition of the needed resource enhance the chances of a project’s success. Therefore, it is important creating a budget and resource list. The resources entail both financial and human resources. The human resources are the management, trainers, and healthcare providers. Financial resources will also be required to facilitate the staff on the use of the fall prevention intervention, data collection, and funds to monitor and evaluate the project. The Selected Design

            As part of the plan, this project proposes to use a quantitative research design to collect data and evaluate the proposed project’s efficacy. This design will enhance easier data collection and analysis (Jolley, 2020). In addition, the application of quantitative strategies in data collection is relatively cheaper as compared to the qualitative approaches, which require elaborate processes.

The Instruments and Methods

            Various instruments and methods will be applied in the project. One of them is questionnaires which will be applied in to determine the staff knowledge and experience regarding the use of the TIPS tool kit in preventing patient falls. The questionnaires will also be a key part of the evaluation as they will provide data that can be used to evaluate the project.

Intervention Delivery Process

            It is important to appropriately plan on how to deliver the intervention. As such, it is proposed that the intervention will be delivered in stages. A needs assessment will be the first phase which will entail an assessment of the current rates of patient falls among the elderly and the level of knowledge and awareness among the staff concerning the use of the TIPS tool kit in controlling patient falls (Melnyk & Fineout-Overholt, 2019). The staff will then be trained by a specialized trainer with adequate knowledge of the application of the TIPS tool kit. The next phase will involve implementation, entailing testing the intervention on daily patient care. It is important to monitor the staff at this stage and ensure they appropriately use the developed TIPS tool kit. Analysis of the data and evaluation will then follow to determine the effectiveness of the proposed solution.

The Stakeholders

            Stakeholders form a key part of the project as their actions can heavily influence the path taken by the project (Lehane et al., 20190. Therefore, the targeted stakeholders include the geriatric department healthcare providers, the nurse leader, the nurse manager, and the finance officer since this project will require resources to accomplish.  The geriatric department healthcare providers will have a direct role to play in the project implementation process. The implication is that their views and opinions in the form of inputs will be key for the project when formulating the strategies to be used. The nurse leaders and nurse managers will also be directly involved in coordinating the whole project phases, and majorly the implementation phase. Their role places them in a prime position to offer necessary feedback regarding the project to other stakeholders for action. The finance manager will also play a key role in determining the potential project’s financial implication through appropriate cost-benefit analysis.

The Potential Barriers and How to Overcome Them

            In almost every case of a project implementation process, challenges and barriers arise, which have to be overcome to foster a successful implementation process of the project. These challenges can vary from one project to another, depending on the nature of the project (Alatawi et al., 2020). Therefore, it is prudent to timeously identify the problems and come up with ways of overcoming them. One of the potential challenges or barriers is resistance to the proposed solutions. Individuals usually have a natural tendency to resist any change, sometimes for no reason. Therefore, the nursing staff who are central to the project can resist the proposal. Such resistance can be eliminated or minimized by incorporating their ideas from the onset of the project and showing that they are important to the project. This will make them have a sense of inclusion, importance, and belonging hence reducing the chances of resistance.

            The other challenge is the potential lack of support from the leaders. Leaders may fail to offer their support if they perceive that the project may not be important or is not aligned with the institution’s goals and vision. One way of overcoming this challenge is ensuring that the project goals are aligned with the institution’s mission, vision, and goals. Direct communication with the leaders can also help in convincing them to support the project (Alatawi et al., 2020). A potential lack of interest in the project by some key stakeholders can also derail the implementation process. Therefore, it is important to communicate effectively with such individuals and show them the potential importance of the project and the reason why they should be part of the project and fully support it.

Conclusion

            The project implementation process needs an appropriate plan that can be used as a guide to fully and successfully implement various components of the project. In addition, an implementation plan offers the project implementers a chance to note down appropriate resources needed to support the project to completion. As such, an implementation plan has been formulated and will be used in implementing the project, focusing on reducing the rates of falls among elderly patients in hospital care settings
