Childhood Obesity Essay Paper
Childhood Obesity Essay Paper
The prevalence of childhood obesity is nearly 20% and is expected to continue because of a high number of children becoming obese and overweight each passing day (Sanyaolu et al., 2019). I feel this topic is most significant because it is one of the main focus areas in population health. Given the increasing rates of childhood obesity, exploring deeper about the topic is necessary to develop strategies for health promotion and prevention of the condition. A vast amount of literature on childhood obesity, given the attention it has drawn over the years. However, most studies are based on qualitative research; hence, finding a quantitative study on childhood obesity was a bit challenging. Nevertheless, I investigated a quantitative study investigating the intervention strategies for childhood obesity.

While reviewing the studies, I did not have a problem identifying quantitative articles because most articles are indicated as qualitative or quantitative in the title. This made it easier to decide whether a study was quantitative. Additionally, quantitative studies involve the analysis of data through statistical methods; hence, easy to distinguish them from qualitative studies (Haiquan et al., 2020). A quantitative approach is appropriate for studying aspects of childhood obesity, including consequences, interventions, and causes or risk factors. Quantitative research help to quantify behaviors and variables related to childhood obesity, as well as assess interventions for outcomes and effectiveness. The quantitative study is widely used in health research, especially with large populations, because of its potential for objectivity and the opportunity to generalize the results. The research has a clearly defined methodology with explicit steps that are easy to understand (Haiquan et al., 2020). Therefore, it would be possible to replicate the quantitative study in another research with similar conditions.

Due Date: Post should be entered to the Weekly Reflection on Learning thread by Sunday at 11:59 p.m. MST each week.
This assignment will follow the late assignment policy specified in the course syllabus.
Students are expected to submit assignments by the time they are due. Assignments submitted after the due date and time will receive a deduction of 10% of the total points possible for that assignment for each day the assignment is late. Assignments will be accepted, with penalty as described, up to a maximum of three days late, after which point a zero will be recorded for the assignment.
In the event of a situation that prevents timely submission of an assignment, students may petition their instructor for a waiver of the late submission grade reduction. The instructor will review the student’s rationale for the request and make a determination based on the merits of the student’s appeal.
Consideration of the student’s total course performance to date will be a contributing factor in the determination. Students should continue to attend class, actively participate, and complete other assignments while the appeal is pending.
