Discussion: Translation Research in Practice 

Translational research entails collecting knowledge from diverse clinical experimental trials and using it solve critical health and medical issues of a certain population. Translational research focuses on improving the health outcomes of a targeted population. As such, the use of translational research to address population health issues like obesity, which a public health concern, is critical in developing new insights on ways to deal with the problem and improve primary care interventions for such individuals (Cheng & Ni, 2021). The study by Arteaga et al. (2018) focuses on research at the National Institute of Health on childhood obesity. The researchers detail efforts, gaps, and opportunities in different areas of childhood obesity, measurement and sleep. The research also addresses five critical areas related to childhood obesity that include behavioral and social sciences, policies and programs as well as environmental strategies and health disparities and trans-agency and early childhood interventions.
