There are a number of global healthcare issues that deserve attention. One such issue is the weak primary care. One of the main problems with weak primary care is that patients do not often receive the right treatment at the right time, which can lead to more serious health problems further down the line. This can be costly for individuals, families, and societies as a whole. There are many ways to improve primary care, but one of the most important is to ensure that everyone has access to quality healthcare services. This means investing in adequate resources (such as staff and equipment), as well as ensuring that people have the necessary knowledge and skills to use those resources. The purpose of this assignment is to compare US and UK healthcare polices with regards to the problem of weak primary care.

Weak Primary Care
|
|
Description |
Weak primary care is a global health concern because it can impair a country’s overall ability to deliver high-quality, cost-effective health care. A well-functioning primary care system is essential for ensuring that all citizens have access to quality health care. It also helps to ensure that people receive the preventive services and early treatment they need to stay healthy and avoid more serious health problems. A number of factors have contributed to the decline in primary care worldwide, including: (1) an aging population; (2) increasing complexity of illness; (3) inadequate payment and reimbursement systems; and (4) workforce shortages. In order to address these issues, countries will need to invest in their primary care systems and make fundamental changes that will ensure quality outcome.

|
Britain |
Describe the policy in each country related to the identified healthcare issue |
In the United States, the inadequate/weak primary care is connected to the Affordable Care Act. The proposal called for lower primary care costs and first-contact high-quality diagnostic services (Chen et al., 2018). The Affordable Treatment Act places a strong emphasis on providing patients with high-quality care from the outset.
|
The highlighted healthcare concern is connected to British National Health Service (NHS) policy. NHS is a publicly financed medical system that was established to improve the population’s access to healthcare (Jones & Exworthy, 2019). The strategy has made an effort to alleviate the poor primary care in the Great Britain through ongoing financing. |
What are the strengths of this policy? |
ü The strategy employs cutting-edge techniques to guarantee the provision of high-quality healthcare, including diagnosis at the point of contact.
ü The strategy includes cutting-edge tactics for initial contact diagnosis processes to improve successful follow-up treatment procedures.
|
ü The policy outlines solutions for addressing problems with the whole public health system, including financial issues. ü The acceptability of the policy by the general public is also one of its strengths. |
What are the weaknesses of this policy? |
ü The complexity of the primary care payment and treatment systems is where the policy’s shortcoming resides. ü The heated political climate connected to many components of the program is another flaw in the strategy.
|
The policy’s flaw is in the growing disparity in policies among the four regions, including Ireland, Scotland, and England. |
Explain how the social determinants of health may impact the specified global health issue. (Be specific and provide examples)
|
Mentioned global health issue may be affected by social determinants of health such as physical environment, socioeconomic position, and social support network (weak primary care). Due to the significant expenses connected with healthcare services at this level, low socioeconomic status may result in primary care that is inadequate. Additionally, the physical environment hosts a variety of illnesses, complicating basic care. |
Some of the social determinants of health that have an influence on inadequate primary care include socioeconomic status and the physical environmental. Changes in environmental variables have a significant influence on primary care in the Great Britain by causing the spread of illnesses and other issues. In other words, basic care is becoming weaker as new environmental issues develop. |
How has each country’ government addressed cost, quality, and access to the selected global health issue? |
For millions of its residents, the US government offered inexpensive insurance coverage to address issues with primary care including availability, affordability, and quality (Adepoju et al., 2018). The Affordable Care Act, sometimes known as Obamacare, was mainly passed to improve primary care.
|
The British government has repeatedly revoked the NHS policy in an effort to increase access to and improve the quality of various healthcare services, including diagnostic and basic treatment procedures (Dixon-Woods et al., 2018). |
How has the identified health policy impacted the health of the global population? (Be specific and provide examples) |
The Affordable Care policy has had a variety of effects on the world’s population. Innovative care methods have improved the health of the world’s population by enhancing the quality of healthcare workers’ training to treat various diseases and health difficulties.
|
The National Health Service’s financing and provision of other crucial health services have contributed to the growth of knowledge via research and innovation. Innovative healthcare concepts have therefore diffused over the world. Different healthcare systems have been affected by these concepts over time. |
Describe the potential impact of the identified health policy on the role of nurse in each country. |
The American nursing profession has been influenced by the Affordable Care Act (Sommers et al., 2020). When it comes to providing patients with high-quality treatment, the policy offers guidelines and clarified the obligations of nurses and all other healthcare personnel.
|
The responsibilities of nurses participating in the treatment procedures have undergone constant change as a result of National Health Service Policy. Additionally, the policy has changed how nurses are expected to do their duties by implementing new care-related treatment procedures. |
Explain how global health issues impact local healthcare organizations and policies in both countries. (Be specific and provide examples) |
The healthcare organizations and the healthcare policies have been influenced by the global health challenges, such as illness outbreaks like the coronavirus. During Coronavirus outbreak, local healthcare agencies were unable to provide high quality care. Additionally, the Affordable Health Insurance Plan (health insurance policy) was unable to cover anyone afflicted by the coronavirus epidemic.
|
One of the problems with weak primary care is that it can lead to increased use of hospital services. For example, a recent study in Britain found that patients who had a regular family doctor were less likely to need hospital care than those who did not. This is because people with a regular doctor are more likely to get the care and advice they need to stay healthy, and are less likely to end up in the hospital with a serious illness. When primary care is weak, it can also lead to increases in healthcare costs. This is because people with health problems often end up going to the emergency room or see other specialists, which can be very expensive. It can also lead to poorer quality of care, since people may not be able access quality services. |
General Notes/Comments |
The problem of weak primary care in the US is evident in the fact that the country spends more on healthcare than any other nation, yet ranks poorly in measures of population health. There are a number of reasons for this, but one key issue is that the US has historically placed a greater emphasis on specialization and technology rather than on comprehensive primary care.
This has led to a system where patients often see many different specialists and receive multiple prescriptions, which can be confusing and lead to medication interactions. It can also be difficult for patients to get appointments with their regular doctor, and many doctors have large patient loads and limited time for counseling patients. All of these factors contribute to poorer health outcomes and increased costs.
|
Continuous improvement in NHS policy is required to reduce the problems associated with the weak primary care in the United Kingdom.

Part Two
Nurses are responsible for ensuring that global practices aimed at enhancing quality of healthcare delivery can be incorporated into their local practice and role as a nurse leader. Nurses should create awareness about these perspectives by engaging in continuous training, workshops or other educational activities so they adhere to the lens while undertaking processes within their job description. Nurses can also use some methods such as advertising through social media platforms.
The incorporation of the global practices into the roles of nurses is essential in ensuring the quality health delivery and adherence to policies. Nurses make up the largest workforce in most healthcare systems and their roles are critical in promoting, achieving, and maintaining good health outcomes. The nursing profession has long been recognized for its standards of practice and commitment to providing quality care. However, with the ever-changing global landscape, it is important that nurses not only understand the local needs but also have a broad understanding of international best practices. This will allow them to effectively provide quality care that meets both local and global standards. As a nurse leader, I will lead workshops and continuous training to ensure adherence to the healthcare policies.
The incorporation of the global perspective or lens can impact my local practice by providing a new understanding of the role of nursing leadership through exposure to different health care systems and cultural beliefs. A global perspective can help nurses develop an appreciation for other cultures and their unique health care systems. Nurses can learn about how other countries organize and staff their health care facilities, as well as the types of treatments and medications used in those countries. When nurses have a broad understanding of the world’s health care systems, they are better equipped to develop innovative solutions to problems faced in their own local practices.
Conclusion
The problem of weak primary care in the US is evident in the fact that the country spends more on healthcare than any other nation, yet ranks poorly in measures of population health. On the other hand, Continuous improvement in NHS policy is required to reduce the problems associated with the weak primary care in the United Kingdom. Weak primary care is a global health concern because it can impair a country’s overall ability to deliver high-quality, cost-effective health care. A well-functioning primary care system is essential for ensuring that all citizens have access to quality health care.
