Week 1: Discussion: AACN Essentials Informatics Self-Assessment

AACN Essentials Informatics Self-Assessment

I achieved a cumulative score of 27 out of a potential 48. I saw that, in the majority of crucial areas, I was excellent, with just three becoming very good. I did not achieve a high level of proficiency in any of the domains. This implies that there is a need for progress in several domains to attain proficiency in the field of nursing informatics. The integration of informatics has become an essential component of healthcare systems. Nursing informatics facilitates healthcare coordination by enabling the exchange of patient information across healthcare providers, hence expediting the process of making informed care choices (Bove, 2019). The ease of transfer of care and decision-making is facilitated. About my self-evaluation, it is important to enhance my understanding of patient care technologies and their practical application in delivering high-quality and safe care to the patient demographic (Backonja et al., 2021). The field of information technology is accompanied by ethical concerns and considerations. Consequently, I need to enhance my proficiency in identifying and implementing security, privacy, and confidentiality protocols to safeguard the integrity of patient health information (Strudwick et al., 2019).

The incorporation of information technology into healthcare systems is essential for carers and healthcare institutions in the current technological age (Kleib et al., 2021). Hence, I need to adopt a proactive approach and actively engage in the assessment of information systems within practical contexts. As stated by Mohamed and Abouzaied (2021), active engagement in the policy formulation process will be necessary. I want to enhance my proficiency in many aspects of information technology and informatics during this course, with the ultimate objective of achieving a high level of excellence (Bove & Sauer, 2022). Furthermore, I am interested in comprehending the most effective strategies for protecting health information privacy and maintaining confidentiality.
