Assignment: You are to develop a case study that supports a condition, which you have learned about in this class. This patient can be inspired by an actual patient that you took care of, or a fictitious one that is created by you. This case study should be appropriate for the level of the graduating pre-licensure nursing student. Perhaps think about where your knowledge and skill level was about a month before graduation and target this case study to around that level. Think about a case study that would have benefitted your own skill level and learning

Fill out the template that is attached and follow the guidelines that go with each section.

Your paper ‘s introductory section will have you introduce the patient case and place the reader in the context of what type of unit that you are placing the patient in, how long they have been on the unit and/or in the hospital . Indicate if they have switched units due to a differing level of care provided. Include the patient’s fictitious name, age and gender.

Indicate the “situation”. How does this patient present? What are/is the patient’s medical diagnoses. What are their clinical manifestations? What are their complaints? What assessments of the patient stand out to you? Are there diagnostic or laboratory tests that have come back? What are the results? (This part should be about three quarters of a page long. It can be a little longer if need be.). Be sure to include this patient’s past medical history and/or co-morbidities.

Write four questions related to this case for a “student” to answer that will test their knowledge of the pathophysiology of the condition that your patient presents. Your questions must include information from the case. In other words, questions like “explain the pathophysiology of diabetes” are unacceptable because you don’t need the case to answer the questions. An acceptable question may be “What is the reason for XYZ lab values to be elevated?”

Write the answers to the questions that you posed. Be sure the answers are substantial and completely answer your question related to the case. Cite the source that you used. One peer reviewed journal article must be included
