I was challenged throughout this course to apply critical thinking skills in identifying how the application of technology in healthcare can enhance the quality of care offered. I was required to identify a problem, conduct a literature review, and propose practical solutions; these activities helped me comprehend the essence of relying on data and using evidence-based interventions to tailor solutions for different populations. I was also required to reflect on the advantages and disadvantages of adopting diverse technologies in healthcare. Factors such as patient safety, usability, and interoperability were considered when analyzing these technologies. The most significant challenge was to understand the sophisticated technologies used and how they can be implemented to improve patient safety. The views of the patients, IT experts, system users, and the hospital administration must all be considered when adopting technology in healthcare organizations (Veinot et al., 2019). This course helped me to sharpen my analytical and research skills to look for the most extraordinary evidence to inform care. I also had a deeper understanding of the role of informatics in healthcare and the preparation of a nurse to work in modern healthcare settings.
