Evidence-based practice has been shown to play an important role in improving quality in patient care environments and healthcare organizations at large. Therefore, it is important to use effective strategies that can support the use of evidence-based practice to influence activities, which can then improve quality in such healthcare organizations. As a nurse leader, I can influence improved quality in a healthcare organization through various ways. One of the strategies is to promote staff education and training so that they are equipped with current knowledge and aspects of quality (Heinen et al.,2019). Other ways include the promotion of safety and quality culture and advocating for ethical and transparent leadership.

Ethical and legal dilemmas are common in healthcare environments. They can also impact the organization in various ways (Brown, 2020). An example of an ethical dilemma was a case where the medical team recommended a  kidney transplant for a patient. However, the family members were against such an approach since it would conflict with their faith. The medical team argued that it was the morally right thing to treat the patient even though there was also a need to respect the patient and their family’s choices. The impact it had on the organization is that the nurse leader had to facilitate ethical decision-making for better patient outcomes.

This course has been an important part of my training and learning as a nurse. Therefore, I enjoyed numerous aspects, such as learning more about communities through various approaches, such as the use of windshield surveys. As such, one of the assignments that I found beneficial was the assignment involving community assessment and formulation of various healthcare plans to help improve the health outcomes of individuals and families. It is important to note that my learning experience was near perfect. However, there are also aspects that can be added to the learning experience. For example, as part of the course, some of the assignments should involve making comparisons between communities following community assessment exercises. Such an approach can be key to helping individuals learn about the common and specific healthcare issues facing different communities under consideration.
