This week, you are also required to create an annotated outline for your Week 5 literature review paper. Over the past few weeks, you have been collecting research related to your capstone topic. An annotated outline is a terrific way to organize the information you have gathered to prepare to write your literature review paper. While a traditional outline allows you to structure your paper topic and main ideas, an annotated outline takes this traditional outline a step further by requiring you (the researcher) to add citations and evidence to support the main points stated in the outline. Creating an outline annotated with scholarly citations and research evidence now will make writing your literature review paper much easier in Week 5!

Specifically, your task this week is to write an annotated outline that builds from your problem statement and thesis statement. Your outline must include the topic and main themes you plan to discuss in your Week 5 literature review paper. Remember to review the elements required in your Week 5 paper (e.g., introduction with thesis; description of topic/issue; thematic, synthesis of research; description of solutions/best practices; conclusion) and include these elements in your outline. Next, be sure to support each bulleted theme from your outline with a research citation. Plan to incorporate at least 6 to 8 scholarly references in your annotated outline.
NB: An annotated outline is different from an annotated bibliography! An annotated outline takes a traditional outline a step further by requiring you to add citations and research evidence to support the main points stated in your outline.
