Objective 1: Enhanced Self-Care

Objective 2: Reduce Healthcare Costs

The goal of this project is to empower patients on the medical-surgical floor to get involved in their care and attain positive health outcomes and in turn, help to minimize heavy financial load and also reduce indirect costs such as disability, loss of productivity, and mortality (Tweed et al., 2021).

Objective 3: Improve Compliance with Medication

Failure to provide patient education leads to poor medication compliance, which is associated with negative health outcomes such as reduced quality of life and more hospitalizations.

Patient education will be conducted among a vulnerable group of patients set for surgery or recovering from surgical procedures. These patients experience physical and psychological problems, which adversely impact them and their families (Refai et al., 2018). As such, ethical practices should be upheld when caring for patients. The autonomy of the patients will be upheld by encouraging them to make a free choice on whether or not they can participate in the education program.  Social justice will be upheld by ensuring that intervention is quality, affordable, and accessible to all patients.
