Capstone Change Project Outcomes Assignment
Capstone Change Project Outcomes Assignment
After working with my preceptor to assess the available organizational policies, I have developed different anticipated measurable outcomes from the change initiative. The proposed nursing intervention is the significance of patient education throughout their hospital stay and their understanding of it before and after discharge on a medical-surgical floor. This intervention is expected to empower patients in their preoperative and recovery process, leading to increased quality of life, satisfaction with care, and improved health outcomes. The following are the measurable outcomes expected from the project.

Enhanced Self-Care
Patient education is expected to empower patients to make informed personal health decisions and become responsible for their safety. It is also expected to help patients develop effective balance among aspects of overall health and well-being (Tweed et al., 2018). It is also expected to assist in improving the clarity of thought and help patients to determine what is essential for them.
Reduction in Healthcare Costs
This project expects to empower patients on the medical-surgical floor to get involved in their care and attain positive health outcomes and in turn, help to minimize heavy financial load and also reduce indirect costs such as disability, loss of productivity, and mortality (Fereidouni et al., 2019).
Improvement in Compliance with Medication
Patient education plays a crucial role in empowering and creating awareness, which is critical in enhancing compliance with medication across a range of diseases and conditions that needs surgery (Refai et al., 2018). It is expected that this project will provide awareness and empower patients. In turn, improved medication compliance is expected, which is associated with better health outcomes, improvement in quality of life, and reduced hospital readmissions.
Conclusion
Patient education throughout their hospital stay and their understanding of it before and after discharge on a medical-surgical floor is expected to produce positive outcomes such as the enhanced ability for self-care, reduction in healthcare costs, and improved medication compliance.
