11.1: ANA Code of Ethics Provisions

Nurses follow numerous professional, ethical, and legal guidelines. Besides ensuring that patients receive quality and timely care, their overall conduct should be morally acceptable. Ethical behavior is an integral part of being a nurse leader since nurse leaders must strive to support and cultivate ethical performance to inspire their followers to emulate similar conduct. Advocacy includes promoting workplace safety and engaging in quality improvement projects to optimize safety and other critical health outcomes (Stamps et al., 2021). For instance, evaluation can be conducted once in short-term projects, while long-term projects require timely and regular evaluation.
