Change is inevitable in any organization irrespective of its size. In most cases, change entails implementing new processes, procedures, management structure, model, and system to enhance efficiency and improve the overall results. However, change is a complicated process that requires the support of the change agent and the guiding team.
A change agent also referred to as agent of change is an individual who promotes change within an organization. Change agent facilitates change by playing different roles during the process. The first role of a change agent involves acting as a consultant manager in which he or she avails data from outside the organization to the employees or assist them to generate data from within the organization. Therefore, they enable the employees to find a solution for a particular issue. The success of the change agent is supported by some traits, including hemophily, linkage, empathy, proximity, structuring, capacity, openness, synergy, and energy (Lindegaard, 2011).

Additionally, leaders should allow the employees to give their views regarding the change. Employees are involved in daily activities of the organization, thereby understanding the current problems well. Therefore, their inputs are helpful in designing an appropriate change intervention.
These strategies increase stakeholders’ support. First, stakeholders are willing to support change if the organization’s vision is clear and change aligns with the vision. Additionally, stakeholders are likely to support change if its benefits are communicated to them by the leader. The willingness to support the change increases further if stakeholders are allowed to give their views and opinions regarding the proposed change. Therefore, these strategies create a momentum for a change initiative to succeed. Including the most vocal critic of the change initiative in the guiding team will enhance the success of the proposed change. This process will enable the guiding team overcome barriers that are likely to hinder success of the proposed change.
