Discussion 4 Formative and Summative Evaluation

The proposed intervention is a six-week educational intervention. This discussion focuses on the formative and summative evaluation plans for my project.

The project’s evaluation plan focuses primarily on assessing the level of knowledge and skills change among home health nurses. Thus, the project will adopt a pre-and post-test design, an experimental approach that determines changes in research parameters by comparing results before and after the study (Roth, 2024). A knowledge test entailing ten questions evaluating knowledge, skills, and competence in wound care will be provided to the home health nurses. The evaluation process will entail the utilization of an online tool, SurveyMonkey, that will administer the knowledge test before and after the wound care education sessions. The test will be uniform in the two assessment times to ensure reliability. Statistical analysis of the tests will help determine the statistical significance of the knowledge change.

Formative and summative assessments will also focus on other factors, including cost and training rates. Rode et al. (2022) note that project evaluation is a continuous and multidimensional concept that should incorporate all parameters the project affects. The project will adopt advanced reporting to ensure comprehensive project assessment. A formative report in week 4 and a summative report in week 8 will help consider additional factors such as costs, training sessions, specific evaluations, and training progress to ensure the project is being implemented as planned.
