Quality improvement initiatives are critical in ensuring that nurses deliver quality patient-centered care interventions. Nurses must work in a friendly environment that encourages their safety and protection. However, workplace incivility and violence threaten the existence of a better nursing workplace environment. Consequently, the selected topic for the executive summary in week three is prevention of patient violence against nurses. The purpose of this quality improvement initiative is to help organizations create safety environment for nurses and reduce their susceptibility to patient aggression and violence. Evidence suggests that nurses are prone to patient violence due to several factors with a majority emanating from organizational issues and aspects (Arnetz, 2022). Therefore, this quality improvement targets hospitals and nurse leaders as well as administrators and other stakeholders in developing interventions that can reduce patient violence against nurses.

The initiative will offer a host of benefits to organizations, nurses and patients. These include improving workplace safety for all the stakeholders, better patient outcomes, effective and motivated performance by nurses, and ensure that an organization cuts on the overall costs of operations by lowering the turnover rates (Al-Qadi, 2021). Today, healthcare organizations face increased turnover rates and a nursing shortage that threatens to reduce the quality of care and patient safety. Addressing incidences of patient violence targeted at nurses will allow organizations and nurses to improve their interactions with patients and develop better interventions.
Organizations should establish policies that encourage reporting of such incidents and get input from nurses to make them effective in dealing with violent and aggressive patients and their families (Ramzi et al., 2022). The implementation of this initiative will also entail evaluation and assessment to ascertain that it meets the set goals and objectives of addressing the negative effects of violence perpetrated by patients and their families.
