In the United States, the provision of medical care and the advocacy for good health are both significantly influenced by the work done by various healthcare institutions. Because of the comprehensiveness of their strategies to address challenges including human resources, infrastructure, and client experience, several of the institutions have already demonstrated their preparedness. Despite this, these organizations are also struggling with a variety of other problems. Many different models and theories might be used to tackle the challenges. Instead of focusing on making a profit, Banner Health has made it a priority to serve the communities it is responsible for by providing quality medical treatment.

Overview of Banner Health

Banner Health is a non-profit health care organization in the United States that was established in 1999 and has its headquarters in Arizona. It oversees the operations of thirty hospitals and several other types of institutions in six different states. This healthcare organization employs more people than any other single employer in the state of Arizona and is among the major employers in the whole country. The mission of Banner Health is to simplify medical treatment in order to improve people’s quality of life. The dedication of this organization to achieving its goal is shown by the fact that it places a consistent emphasis on enhancing the quality of care provided to patients as well as the services and amenities available to the public as a whole (BannerHealth, n.d.). It offers basic medical treatment including urgent care, diagnostic imaging, outpatient surgery, pediatric care, geriatric care, and specialty care.

Health Organizational Readiness

Banner Health’s goal is to streamline health care so that people’s lives may improve. The company is now undergoing a cost-cutting program in order to accomplish this purpose. These new initiatives will enable Banner to better organize, regulate, and integrate care delivery, which will result in an improvement in population wellbeing (Dahlen & Bailey, 2013)The effort to cut costs is intended to concentrate on measures to lower the financial load that patients are facing, to boost overall efficiency, and enhance to the quality of care provided. These initiatives not only concentrate on lowering costs, but also make sure that patients receive high-quality treatment. Furthermore, the organization is working on making its services more accessible to most patients across the country.

As per the Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (2020), access to care can be described as the timely utilization of personal medical services in order to obtain positive health outcomes. Insurance, availability of services, and promptness of treatment are the cornerstones of health care access. Banner Health is committed to providing its patients with better healthcare insurance and access to a wider range of medical services, including gastroenterology, pediatric, and obstetric care.

Strategic Plan of Banner Health

For Banner Health to accomplish this readiness plan, they need a strategy that will address concerns relating to network growth. Expanding access to meet the ever-increasing demands of patients’ health care is the role of network growth. Both organic and inorganic methods may be used to accomplish this growth. The organization should establish more medical facilities in areas where they predict population expansion (Ginter et al., 2018). Assigning the appropriate organizational leaders to manage and carry out this expansion initiative is necessary in order to provide support for the construction of new facilities. The acquisition of a health system in geographical regions where Banner Health intends to establish an immediate location is one way that inorganic development might be accomplished. In order to meet the requirements for nurse staffing, the firm must offer its employees training on a quarterly basis and provide them with several opportunities to take on leadership roles within the organization (Ginter et al., 2018). The demands of the nursing workforce should be addressed concurrently with resource planning. The organization has to develop policies that deal with nursing burnout, the right ratio of patients to nurses, and acuity-based staffing in order to deal with the issue of nurse turnover. Lastly, the organization has to make sure that the patient outcome is at the forefront of every program. (Peter G, 2019). This escalating cost not only places a strain on the client but also sabotages any measures that the institution may attempt to implement in the future in order to improve health. Banner Health’s corporate culture is an additional risk to the success of the organization’s ultimate goals. When an institution does not prioritize cultivating a culture of inclusion, its staff members may report feeling less motivated to make decisions that would be in the best interest of their patients. When drafting this strategic plan, it is vital that Banner Health include all stakeholders, such as clinicians, leaders, patient advocacy groups, and so on. When the strategy is put into action, it will be more likely to meet the needs of all stakeholders

Model to support Implementation of Strategic Plan

 Lean Six Sigma is among the models proposed to be used to ensure that the strategic approach for Banner Health is implemented fully. This is the most effective technique for continuous improvement that may be used to achieve a good outcome for the patient. A five-step strategy is used by Lean Six Sigma in the healthcare industry to accomplish process improvement and enhance the quality of treatment provided to patients (American Society for Quality, 2018). The methodology known as define, measure, analyze, improve, and control (DMAIC) may be used in a wide range of contexts with the goal of enhancing process quality and was developed with the intention of promoting quality improvement. Banner Health will be equipped to clearly identify a problem, measure and evaluate it, establish improvement plans, and lastly have control measures to monitor the execution of the strategic plan using Lean Six Sigma.

This study explored the preparedness of the Banner Health System by first reviewing two projects that the institution is doing to satisfy the needs of people in the next decade. . The paper explores the strategic plan to address concerns about network development, nursing staffing, resource planning, and patient satisfaction. The paper also evaluates how factors like culture and the growing cost of health care might hamper the successful execution of these strategic goals.
