Peer reviewed journal articles are essential in health care practice and research because they offer a trusted form of scientific information dissemination and processing. Scientific information is cumulative and builds on itself. Therefore, this trust is critically important in research and application of known evidence in nursing practice to improve the quality of care for patients. Peer reviews function to encourage researchers and authors to meet the accepted high standards of their discipline and control the dissemination of research information. Peer reviews are better than the general research because the process guarantees critical and high levels of evidence as it is approved by different players or authors. Peer reviews lead to best practices because of their authoritative nature based on the information that they offer.
