My Role in communicating Research Information Essay
Based on the questionnaire findings and the insights obtained from the Topic 1 readings, I would define my communication success as fair. I received 77 points from the questionnaire assessment, putting me in the 50-77 range for a fair communicator. According to my friends, I am an active listener; but, I struggle to say no when required, making me a passive communicator. In the future, I plan to be more assertive in my communication and in any other situation that calls for it.
While I am not an excellent communicator, I have mastered one component of communication that allows me to be effective. I can read my conversational partner’s emotions and keep their needs and preferences in mind. For example, since I am aware of cultural variations in communication styles, I make an effort to enable my conversational partners to be themselves, rather than disparage or steamroll them. Furthermore, I am capable of expressing my thoughts and emotions, allowing me to successfully communicate my message.
I want to focus on being more responsive to the needs and emotions of people during conversations to improve my communication abilities with compassion and care for others. This might include exercising active listening skills, such as completely engaging with the person with whom I am interacting and reflecting on what they have said to guarantee comprehension. I also want to concentrate on being more assertive when necessary while being sensitive to the sentiments of others.
As a healthcare professional, I am aware that good communication is a critical component of providing high-quality patient care. As a result, I want to utilize the research process to communicate to my colleagues what I have learned about my communication abilities. I will be open and honest about the tactics that have helped me communicate effectively, as well as make them aware of particular areas where I need to improve. This would allow me to obtain feedback from my colleagues and utilize it to improve. Because I feel that recognizing my communication skills and limitations would kick start my road to being an exceptional communicator, I am continually eager for learning and growth.
