Practice Question

For adult psychiatric patients, does the implementation of a mindfulness-based stress reduction program, compared to current practice, impact anxiety levels in 8-10 weeks?

Project Implementation Plan

During Weeks 2-9, in my role as the leader of the DNP project, I will supervise the implementation of the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction program by:

• Leading 2-hour sessions every week with trained nursing staff.
• Guiding meditation and gentle yoga practices while also facilitating group discussions.
• Supplying resources for home practice, such as audio recordings and readings.
• Overseeing program advancement, ensuring adherence to protocols, and performing audits.
• Introducing real-time feedback mechanisms.
• Formatively assessing shifts in anxiety levels adherence rates and addressing any encountered challenges.

Changes to the Implementation Plan

• To achieve a comprehensive understanding of participant experiences, it is recommended to extend the formative evaluation period to encompass the entire intervention phase.
• Employ strategies for Increased Participant Engagement. Determine opportunities to increase participation by integrating additional interactive components into sessions (Ghasemi et al., 2020).
• As a requirement, enhanced regularity of DNP Project Manager Audits is needed to provide prompt feedback for intervention (Duran, 2021). This entails a transition to audits every two weeks to conduct real-time assessments.
