Professional nursing organizations play crucial roles in promoting personal and professional development of its members. Professional organizations provide opportunities for growth to its members such as conferences and access to latest evidence-based practice information. I am interested in the Association of perioperative Registered Nurses (AORN). AORN is a professional organization formed to advocate excellence in healthcare and perioperative practice. It currently has more than 42000 members who participate in organization’s activities such as education and development of solutions to address current and emerging needs in perioperative nursing (AORN.ORG, n.d.). I am interested in this organization because I would like to learn more about evidence-based perioperative nursing practices that can be adopted in my practice site for optimum care outcomes.

The certification that I am interested in as a registered nurse is Certified Perioperative Nurse (CNOR) credential. CNOR is a certification for perioperative nurses. It acts as a symbol for one’s dedication to ensuring the highest standards of patient safety in perioperative nursing. Besides, acquiring this certification will be a sense of my personal accomplishment, professional validation of my achievements, and a source of my career advancement (cc-institute.org, n.d.). A master’s degree in nursing leadership fits into my future continuing education plan. I am interested in developing advanced leadership knowledge and skills to enable me transform nursing and healthcare.

I think the aspect of the TEACH values that would most benefit my work environment if adopted is teamwork. Teamwork is an essential component for organizational success. Optimum outcomes such as efficiency, quality, and safety are likely to be achieved if the staff in my institution work as a team. It will also increase transparency, trust, and openness among them. One of the actions that I will adopt to incorporate teamwork in my practice is encouraging staff to collaborate in making care decisions, monitoring, and evaluating them (Goh et al., 2020). I will also encourage open communication among team members to eliminate potential misunderstanding.
