NR730 Week 6 Discussion: Documenting the Practicum Experience Essay
Documenting the Practicum Experience
The biomedical research course offered by the CITI Program provided valuable insights into the complex realm of ethics, practices, and applications in biomedical research. This experience has deepened my understanding of the responsibilities and opportunities that come with being a DNP scholar, aligning well with the requirements of the DNP program. One key lesson I gained from this journey was recognizing how crucial it is to incorporate scientific foundations into everyday clinical practice (Ritchie, 2021). Throughout the course, there was a consistent emphasis on explaining the reasoning behind different biomedical research methods and their methodologies. This comprehensive knowledge will undoubtedly support me in applying these principles effectively within clinical settings. As I embark on my practicum experience, I fully intend to utilize this integration between research and practice by prioritizing evidence-based approaches in diagnostics, treatments and developing therapeutic plans.
This coursework illuminated the importance of employing analytic methods to assess research and other evidence critically. As DNP scholars, we have a crucial role in implementing research findings into practice. Therefore, during my practicum, it will be essential for me to carefully analyze new research discoveries and propose actionable insights that can enhance clinical scholarship for innovative improvements (Hanners et al., 2023). In addition to our roles as practitioners, this course underscored the significance of advocating for equitable healthcare. It highlighted the intricacies of ethical considerations within translational science. Consequently, an essential aspect of my practicum will involve designing, developing, and evaluating clinical practices while adhering to these ethical principles (Schwartz & Durkin, 2020). This approach will ensure enhancements in quality across multiple levels within the system.
Undoubtedly, completing the CITI Program course on biomedical research has provided me with a strong foundation and valuable skills necessary for the DNP practicum. As I progress in my journey, I am prepared for continuous learning, practical application of knowledge, and advocating for bridging the gap between research and clinical practice to ensure high-quality care for all individuals.

Documenting the Practicum Experience
Discussion
Purpose
As already mentioned, you are required to complete 1,024 practicum hours for the DNP program. This may seem daunting at first; however, reviewing the different types of activities that align with each DNP Essential and how to document the hours correctly and consistently will help you prepare for the experience. The purpose of this assignment is to examine practices and processes used to accurately document the DNP practicum experience.
Instructions
Reflect on your readings this week and review the Project & Practicum Activities Form. Then, describe activities that you might complete during your Project & Practicum courses and identify the associated DNP Essential.
