An example of applying continuous quality improvement (CQI) in my present position is implementing evidence-based practice (EBP) interventions to enhance patient care by reducing the occurrence of adverse events like hospital-acquired infections (HAIs) and falls. Hand hygiene measures and protocols can help improve patient safety levels and reduce the rate of infection transmission, especially from providers to patients. Implementing this project requires one to collect data on the present compliance rate by observing and recording instances where providers do not adhere to the set protocols. After the observation, one sets a goal like increasing the hand hygiene compliance rate by 50% within three months to reduce infections. Quality improvement tools and methods are essential in implementing the suggested intervention (Khattak et al., 2020). In this case, the quality improvement method that I would use is the Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) cycle.
