The rising demand for care services to an aging population, shortage of trained nursing educators and faculty, and high turnover rates are some of the factors contributing to nursing shortage (ANA, 2023). Again, older nurses are approaching retirement with estimates showing that the median age of RN is 52 years. Close to 20% of the RNs are aged 65 years or above and are set to retire over the next decade, leaving vacancies. The aging American population also requires increased care due to the prevalence of chronic conditions associated with age.
