Change sustenance in evidence-based practice (EBP) can be challenging due to several factors that hinder not just healthcare professionals but even organizations. A core part of the EBP is to ensure that practice change becomes a part and component of an organization’s culture and processes so it can result in quality patient outcomes in the long term. However, possible barriers can prevent the proposed evidence-based practice (EBP) from getting the desired outcomes six months to even a year from now. These include resource limitations and organizational support due to resistance to change among nurses and other providers (Alqahtani et al., 2022). Limited resources mean that providers cannot continue collecting data or improving the mobile applications to improve medication adherence. For instance, new versions that integrate new trends for effective monitoring may require funding and other resources. When the organization fails to offer such critical resources, it would be difficult to sustain the EBP (Fossum et al., 2022). Moreover, leaders and managers within the organization must support the EBP to enhance acceptance and reduce possible resistance from nurses.
