NRS 493 Topic 1 DQ 1

The World Health Organization (WHO) has proposed that the enhancement of community health is contingent upon the provision of nursing services that are supported by evidence-based practice (EBP) (Cardoso et al., 2021). EBP is a methodology that involves utilizing the most reliable and up-to-date evidence to inform decision-making and deliver optimal care to patients based on scientific principles. The methodical application of EBP has the potential to augment healthcare safety and enhance patient outcomes. While EBP holds equal importance for community nurses (CNs) as it does for clinical nurses, the implementation of EBP in the field of community nursing is currently in its early stages. Communities, states, organizations, healthcare providers, public health professionals, and community leaders nationwide utilize evidence-based resources (EBRs) from Healthy People to bolster and enhance their respective endeavors (Perruchoud et al., 2021).

The adoption and effectiveness of EBP have encountered several challenges, impeding its advancement. Several challenges that individuals may encounter include a deficiency in knowledge and motivation (Kitson et al., 2021). Another obstacle that arises is the restricted accessibility of current, user-friendly computer networks and technologies. Nurses and other healthcare professionals continue to operate within healthcare settings that lack a conducive culture for the implementation and advancement of EBPs (Cardoso et al., 2021). Insufficient familiarity with EBP poses an additional obstacle to the attainment of established objectives. A significant obstacle to the widespread adoption of EBP in the medical field is the lack of motivation and interest among many healthcare professionals. In addition, the limited availability of computer resources and technologies has posed challenges in the implementation of EBP within the majority of healthcare systems.

To overcome these obstacles, it is crucial to establish interdisciplinary collaboration and communication, provide access to professional development opportunities and networks, offer mentorship and training, and foster supportive management practices that facilitate the implementation of evidence-based practice (Perruchoud et al., 2021). For nurses to effectively participate in the implementation of evidence-based practices, they must receive appropriate training and be sufficiently motivated. Healthcare organizations must ensure the provision of essential support and resources to facilitate the success and long-term viability of the process.

NRS 493 Topic 1 DQ 2

The primary challenge faced by our organization in addressing the implementation of evidence-based nursing practice pertains to the insufficient nursing workforce within the hospital. This scarcity of nurses hinders the delivery of qualitative care, thereby impeding the effective execution of evidence-based practices. Evidence-based practice (EBP) is highly receptive and accommodating towards change, a crucial attribute given the perpetual evolution of healthcare and disease (Melnyk et al., 2023). Evidence-based practice (EBP) involves the integration of empirical research findings, clinical expertise, and patient preferences to optimize treatment strategies and enhance patient outcomes. The nursing profession integrates evidence-based practice daily, employing a methodology akin to the scientific method.

The process of EBP commences with nurses formulating a research question aimed at identifying a solution to a particular problem (Looper et al., 2022). Subsequently, they proceed to collect relevant data and evidence about the patient’s medical condition, as well as their family history. The gathered information is then subjected to analysis to establish correlations or connections with various diseases and identify any discernible patterns. Finally, the nurses apply the acquired knowledge and insights to their clinical practice.

The initial stage in addressing this matter entails recognizing the presence of a challenge that impacts the implementation of evidence-based practice within the organization. The subsequent course of action entails soliciting feedback from the staff and personnel, encompassing clinicians, technicians, nurses, and other relevant stakeholders, regarding the challenges encountered within each unit (Tang & Hudson, 2019). This information will be subsequently cross-referenced to identify the most frequently reported issues, thereby prioritizing their resolution. The management team of the organization must develop and deliberate upon an appropriate and rational strategy for addressing the issue. This may involve organizing a job fair to augment the number of nurses or implementing measures to reduce the budget and admission of patients, thereby ensuring that the organization operates within its existing resource capacity (Leufer et al., 2021).
