Translational research is essential in healthcare processes. It takes into account scientific discoveries from laboratories, clinics or from the field and changes them into unique or new treatment and approaches to care to enhance the general health of the population (Green et al., 2020). Considering social determinant of health, ecological and global issues, genomics, and principle of genetics, translational research is critical in addressing the burden global diseases by enhancing discoveries that are more meaningful and applicable in medical delivery processes.

By coupling knowledge of the genetic and environmental components of a particular disease with clinical observations, translational research allows us to develop more effective strategies for prevention and treatment (Green et al., 2020). Additionally, through better understanding the complex interactions between genes, environment, and lifestyle, translational research can provide valuable insights into how global changes are impacting human health. Ultimately, this type of research is critical for developing interventions that can improve public health on a global scale.
One way translational research can be applied in social determinants of health is to identify and test interventions that can address the burden of global disease. For example, many people in low- and middle-income countries do not have access to essential health services, which contributes to a high burden of disease(O’Donnell & Meaney, 2020). Translational research can help to develop and test new interventions, such as mobile phone applications or community health workers, which can help to improve access to essential health services for these populations.
Translational research can be applied in principles of genetics to study rare diseases. By understanding the genetic causes of rare diseases, researchers can develop targeted treatments that could help to reduce the global burden of disease. Additionally, by studying the genetic underpinnings of complex diseases such as cancer, researchers can identify new therapeutic targets and potential biomarkers that could be used to diagnose and treat these diseases more effectively (O’Donnell & Meaney, 2020). Translational research processes are also applicable in genomics. Ultimately, through genomic research researchers are able to gain a deeper understanding of how genes influence health status, and this knowledge is invaluable in developing more effective strategies for addressing the global burden of disease.
