Change is constant in healthcare settings due to the need for new practices, programs, and policies to address different patient care issues. Healthcare professionals and managers should sufficiently evaluate readiness to prevent a discrepancy between organizational strategic decisions and concrete operational change (Gabutti et al., 2023). This assessment helps to determine whether it is the right time to introduce change and whether it will succeed based on leadership support, staff perceptions, resource facilitation, and other factors.
The Organizational Readiness for Implementing Change (ORIC) instrument focuses on change commitment and change efficacy. ORIC is a 12-item Likert scale tool where the change commitment is assessed using five statements that reflect the organizational members’ commitment to implement a change (Adelson et al., 2021). Change efficacy is assessed using seven items that reflect on the members’ shared belief in their shared capacity to implement a change.
