Personal ethics are ethical principles that a person uses when making decisions and  related to personal and professional settings. These ethics influence various aspects of a person’s life and help individuals develop their work ethic, personal and professional goals, and values. Nursing as a profession and performance is built on professional ethics and ethical values (Doherty, 2020). I believe my commitment to core moral values such as altruism, autonomy, human dignity, integrity, honesty, and social justice aligns with the mission and vision of the health care facility I work with. Moreover, I believe in honesty, kindness, compassion, respect, and personal responsibility that critical aspects in achieving the mission and vision of the institution.

The values are to be admired and are illustrative of me as they have aided me in terms of precision and accuracy in caring, commitment, human relationship, sympathy, and professional competency to upgrade and promote the health and well-being of our clients and stakeholders. Besides, my ethics and values have become an essential aspect of my professional life in influencing my decisions and actions (Wittmer, 2019). My ethics and values have enabled me to maintain the highest clinical and service excellence standards and absolute honesty and moral practice.

My Professional Goals and Plans and How to Achieve Them.

Currently, I work as the director of Women and Children Services; my goal is to continue to work for this organization but at a higher position as an AVP. Therefore, I am determined to increase my core skills and obtain higher credentials by acquiring my Masters in Nursing and having the Florida Nursing License, which is a requirement for AVP. The achievement will enable me to provide leadership, guidance, and direction in achieving the mission and vision of the health facility and become an expert in my field.

Conclusion

Personal ethics are ethical principles that a person uses when making decisions and behaving in personal and professional settings. My ethics and values have become an essential aspect of my professional life in influencing my choices and actions. These virtues have aided me in my determination to realize the mission and vision of Baptist Health, where I work as the director of Women and Children Services to improve individuals’ health and well-being and promote the sanctity and preservation of life. I am determined to be in a higher position as AVP in my current institution, increase my core skills, and obtain higher credentials in my field as an expert.
