Unit 3 Family Health Part 1:

Assignment: For this assignment you will complete a 30-45 minute Family Assessment by interviewing a family; this can be a distant family member, friend, neighbor, colleague, etc. Prior to starting your interview, be sure to review Chapter 26 pages 585-598 in your textbook. The approaches to family assessment found on pages 585-587 will aid you in preparing for and completing your interview. Unit 3 Family Health Please provide a brief summary and rationale of the assessment approach you used during your interview below.

You will then create a narrative of this encounter leaving all identifying information out of your narrative to protect patient privacy. Identify key findings from your interview, both positive/strengths of that family unit and areas where risk reduction (focused on genetics, age, biological background, personal health/habits/lifestyle, environment) may be needed. For information on the family assessment please refer to Chapter 26 pages 585-598 in your textbook.
