The purpose of this Assignment is to systematically appraise published evidence related to the DNP project area of inquiry to establish quality and relevance.

This Assignment will serve as the Course Level Assessment for:

Critique clinical evidence using databases and information technology to promote optimal health outcomes for patients, families and communities.

Unit 6 Assignment Directions:

1. Select two peer-reviewed articles with content that supports the DNP project area of inquiry. The articles must reflect a quantitative study or a qualitative study or a mixed-methods article. The two articles selected cannot reflect the same research design.
2. Download the JHNEBP Research Evidence Appraisal Tool.
3. Critique the evidence by completing the sections in the Research Evidence Appraisal Tool for a quantitative and/or qualitative and/or mixed-methods study.
4. You do not need to complete the sections on a systematic review or meta-analysis.

I want to clarify some points about the Unit 6 assignment. The form is a little confusing. You can download the form twice and use one each for the different articles you review. Unit 6 Assignment One for quantitative and one for qualitative, or one for quantitative and mixed-methods or one for qualitative and mixed methods. You only have to complete the form for two articles. Please do not use a systematic review or meta-analysis for your article.

For one type, either quantitative or qualitative, you will identify the article, complete the checklist, and then provide a synthesis of the article in the box provided. All parts of the checklist should be addressed – use yes/no/NA. There will be huge sections of the form that you will skip as you move to the section for your specific article type.

So, you can upload in the dropbox two forms – one for each of the two articles. If you select a mixed-methods study, then you will complete both the quantitative and qualitative sections for that article.
