There are a few different ways to look at suicide and euthanasia. One way is to see them as acts of cowardice – people who are too afraid or too weak to go on living, so they take their own lives. Another view is that suicide is an act of self-liberation, and euthanasia is an act of mercy. People who hold the first view might think that those who commit suicide or have euthanasia performed on them are selfish, and that they’re putting their own desires above the needs of others (Paul 2021, p.5). People who hold the second view might argue that suicide is a personal decision that should be respected, and that euthanasia is a compassionate act done out of love for someone who is suffering. It is important to discuss suicide and euthanasia because they are both serious topics that need to be addressed. Suicide is a problem that needs to be discussed so that people can be helped and know that they are not alone (Hosseinzadeh & Rafiei 2019, P. 11). Euthanasia is another topic that needs to be discussed because it is a difficult decision for some people to make. It is important to have an open discussion about both of these topics so that people can understand them better and make informed decisions.

Christians believe that human life is sacred. God is the giver of life, and only He has the right to take it away. Therefore, taking one’s own life is tantamount to playing God. Additionally, Christians believe that suicide is a cowardly act (Paul 2021, p.8). It shows a lack of faith in God’s ability heal and protect the life that He gave to us. In Christian tradition, there are a few different viewpoints on euthanasia. The Catechism of the Catholic Church states that “euthanasia is morally unacceptable” while at the same time acknowledging that there may be circumstances in which a person might be morally justified in hastening death. Here we see two different perspectives: that euthanasia is intrinsically evil, and that it can sometimes be moral depending on the circumstances.

In the case of euthanasia, there are a few key ethical concerns that must be taken into account. First, is the issue of autonomy, and secondly, it is a religious or Christian issue that ought to be handled ethically (Hosseinzadeh & Rafiei 2019, P. 13). From the personal point of view, I am in agreement with the fact that suicide is a sin that takes away precious life given by God. Similarly, euthanasia is a cowardice act and a morally unacceptable from the Christian point of view.
