Assignment: Personal Leadership Philosophy
Leadership is essential for the growth and competitiveness of organizations. Broadly, leadership can be described as the leader’s ability to develop a vision and inspire followers to achieve it. Leaders understand and implement leadership differently. Despite their differing approaches, it is crucial to ensure leadership contributes to job satisfaction, promotes engagement, and fosters followers’ growth. A leader’s philosophy is defined by core values, mission, vision, and admirable behaviors.

Personal Core Values
Good leadership is expressed through integrity, respect, and effective communication. Although there are other admirable traits from leaders, integrity should dominate leadership. From a leadership dimension, integrity means being honest and trustworthy; hence, leaders who value integrity act according to their words. Respect means treating everyone with dignity and supporting them where appropriate. Communication enhances understanding of roles, promotes job satisfaction, and fosters teamwork and interprofessional collaboration (Jankelová & Joniaková, 2021; Rosen et al., 2018). Effective communication allows leaders to articulate their vision and reduce communication-related conflicts.
Personal Mission and Vision Statements
Mission statement: to use my knowledge and skills to bring teams together and create a healthy environment for delivering quality patient care.
Vision statement: to grow into a transformational leader who leads with dignity, integrity, and engagement.
Strengthening Behaviors and Achieving Personal Vision
Leaders should strengthen their behaviors for self-development and organizational success. One of the behaviors I would like to develop is emotional intelligence. Excellence in emotional intelligence allows leaders to understand their feelings and respond to others’ feelings effectively (Mansel & Einion, 2019). The other behavior I would like to strengthen is positivity. Leadership characterized by positivity helps leaders to inspire people naturally (idealized influence), which is a dominant trait of transformational leadership (Collins et al., 2021). Achieving my vision as a leader requires continuous learning, mentorship, and interaction with the right people. I should also learn the essentials of diversity, inclusion, and participative leadership and implement them appropriately.
Overall, leadership primarily involves inspiring others to achieve a common goal. As a result, leaders should be visionary and embody desirable traits. Core values of leadership vary, but excellent leadership should exemplify integrity, respect, and communication. A good leader should also engage followers and promote diversity.
