The Triple Aim framework is based on three goals: Improving the patient experience of care; Improving the health of populations; and Reducing the per capita cost of health care. The Triple Aim framework can help me adapt to changes in the delivery of patient care as an advanced practice nurse. I can assess patient experience with the care provided which includes factors like the effectiveness of care, safety, patient-centeredness, efficiency, timeliness, and equity (Lacagnina, 2018). I can seek to enhance patients’ care to enable them to receive high-quality and effective care. This is because improved individual experiences enable patients to be well-versed and understand their health status

I can employ the Triple Aim framework to decrease the per capita cost of health care in my work environment to better align the needs of the organization with the 21st century.  Decreasing the per capita cost of healthcare aims at reducing healthcare costs without compromising the patient experience and the health of populations (Kokko,2022). Thus, I can implement an EBP approach to meet the goal of reducing costs by identifying efficient measures of delivering healthcare that promote maximum utilization of resources and eliminates wastage. Besides, I can research ways to improve patient care and health outcomes, which results in reduced hospital stays, readmissions, and healthcare costs for patients and the healthcare systems.

A legal dilemma transpired in our organization when a 25-year-old male with borderline mental retardation offered to donate one of his kidneys to his neighbor who needed a kidney transplant.  The man was oblivious to the health risks of donating a kidney. The man was absolutely convinced about his decision to donate his kidney to the ailing neighbor. He mentioned that the neighbor often helped him when he was in need and it was his time to return the favor. Nonetheless, he was found to be intellectually challenged, had insufficient knowledge about kidney donation, and thus was liable to making uninformed decisions. The dilemma was on whether to grant the man the right to self-determination.
