ANA Code of Ethics
The American Nursing Association (ANA) provides a code of ethics with the understanding that ethical and human rights aspects have an important role in the career of a nurse. The part II of the ANA code of ethics addresses a host of ethical, collaborative and practice issues that nurses must adhere to for better care provision (ANA, n.d). Nurses should participate in a practice that understands and promotes their values like compassionate care, integrity, respect and dignity of individuals. Therefore, I believe that it is important to decline to participate in a practice that conflicts with my values when it does not respect human dignity, fails to adhere to set practice standards, and promotes racial bias when dealing with patients.

Collaboration is a core part of the nursing profession as nurses work with other healthcare professionals and providers to offer quality and patient-centered care. Nurses shape the future of nursing which fosters ethical integrity in all areas of practice when they value their patients, create and sustain as well as enhance an ethical environment un the workplace and offer safe and quality care. Secondly, nurses can shape such a future when they express and domicile virtues that go beyond expectations like courage, altruism and honesty to create and maintain morally good settings (Walden University, n.d). The need for professional research studies and scholarly inquiry as well as policymaking initiative allows nurses to foster a future of the profession that will lead to better care and professional development for practitioners in different specialties. The implication is that nurses must work with others to protect human rights, promote health and mitigate any disparity that impacts vulnerable populations and individuals.
One way that the information in this presentation is useful is through patient care activity like increasing cultural competent care when providing care to individuals from minority communities as well as marginalized groups. The ANA guide to the code of ethics is essential for nurses to develop culturally-sensitive and competent interventions to enhance overall care delivery. As such, when collaborating with colleagues and other providers, nurses must adhere to cultural competent care due to the diversity that exists today in health care sector.
