Evaluation is an important part of the implementation process. At what point should evaluation begin? At what point should the readjustment process begin? How would you go about determining this? Are these processes the same for every project? Why or why not?

Discussion Question 11.1

The selected provision from the ANA Code of Ethics is provision 1 which requires nurses to practice with compassion and respect the inherent dignity, worth, and unique attributes of every individual (ANA, 2022).  Ethical behavior is an integral part of nursing leadership. Ethical decision-making and nurse leadership work in tandem. Ethical leaders strive to support and model ethical practices and maintain sensitivity to moral issues through the facilitation of respect for human dignity. As such ethics play important role in influencing ethical leaders to enhance patient safety and quality of care through the promotion of the ethical competence of nurses. Nurse leaders should assess the ethical issues encountered by the staff and establish the best ways to address the challenges.

One can communicate the characteristics of a role model with the provision 1 of the ANA Code of Ethics by ensuring the provision of fair and equal treatment of all patients that demonstrates respect for inherent dignity, worth, and unique traits of every individual irrespective of the factors attributed to the health status of the person (ANA, 2022).  As a role model, a nurse should acknowledge that the worth of an individual is not affected by the disease, socioeconomic status, proximity to death, or functional status. Other characteristics include advocating for fair allocation of health care resources, declining to practice in ways that cause adverse impacts on quality of care, and being attentive to possible human rights violations.

Indeed, ethics has a great influence on the leadership style of a nurse leader. Ethics can influence a leader to adopt concepts of integrity, honesty, fairness, and trust in the leadership style (McKenna & Jeske, 2021). Ethical leadership focuses on proper conduct through respect for the rights and dignity of others and ethics and values. Moreover, leaders who apply a code of ethics can influence the moral decisions of decision-making bodies.

Discussion Question 11.2

Project management entails a methodology that adheres to a cyclical approach in the entire life of a project. The cycle typifies a continuous process where each step provides a basis for the next. Indeed, evaluation is a critical part of the implementation process. Project evaluation should be conducted at regular intervals during the existence of the project to create a clear picture of the project’s progress and impact. The type of project determines the timing for evaluation. Long-term term projects can take a reasonably long time to conduct a useful assessment. However, in short-term projects, evaluation should be carried out immediately after the project begins to determine whether or not the project is on its proper course (LoBiondo-Wood & Haber, 2021). Nonetheless, the right point to begin evaluation is before the start of the project or in its early stages. This is called ex-ante evaluation. The information is gathered before the start of the project or initial stages to help in defining what is to be done and provide a basis for measuring change.

The project readjustment process should also be conducted continuously throughout the life of a project and should begin immediately after the evaluation by making changes recommended in the evaluation process. Readjustments could be done by addressing requests from the evaluation to maintain the project within its scope. Project readjustment should be continuously provided that the outcomes of the evaluation necessitate such readjustment (Powell et al., 2019).  On the other hand, the readjustment process can be determined by effective strategies such as a clearly defined and planned change management process. This process is the guidebook that helps in defining the best ways leaders can respond to recommendations and demands for change within the implementation process. It assists in navigating emerging issues within the project and facilitates the achievement of the ultimate goals. Essentially, implementation processes are the same for all projects.    References
