The new system should ensure safety in data and efficiency in clinical processes such as interprofessional collaboration in the care process. The nurse also analyzes if the technical aspects of the new system meet the needs and expectations of the nursing staff (Strudwick et al., 2019). In this case, they ensure that the system is user-centered and flexible to use to enhance effectiveness, efficiency, and safety of patient care.

Design

            Design is the third step in the SDLC process. The graduate-level nurse also has roles to undertake in this stage. One of the roles is ensuring that all the system aspects address the raised views and concerns by the interprofessional teams and healthcare providers. The nurse also ensures that the system is configured to ensure efficient functioning in hardware, software, user interfaces, security interfaces for the system. The nurse also customizes some of the system aspects in this stage to meet the needs of the nursing staff (Khezri & Abdekhoda, 2019). For example, the system should be made in a way that it addresses the needs of the different nursing specialties and levels of nursing care.

Implementation

            Implementation is the fourth stage in the SDLC process. This phase is characterized by the actual use of the system in the patient care processes. One of the graduate-level nurses’ role in this stage is collaborating with the interprofessional teams utilizing the system in the clinical site. The system is used on a test-basis to determine if it delivers the expected outcomes. The other role is assisting other nurses in the use of the new system. The nurse provides continuous support, obtains feedback, and recommends improvements to ensure optimal system functioning. The nurse also engages in regular system evaluation to identify issues that should be addressed for the realization of its desired outcomes of use in the organization (McGonigle & Mastrian, 2021).

            The new graduate-level nurse plays crucial roles in the adoption of the new system in the organization. The undertaken roles are mainly done in collaboration with other interprofessional team members. The nurse ensures that the needs of the nursing staff are prioritized in the system adoption process. Therefore, organizations should leverage on their role to ensure optimum adoption and benefits of new systems used in the care processes.
