Analyze the process of research translation into practice through a summary of the translational science or theoretical model you chose to support your project implementation. Include the main phases or constructs of the model in your analysis.

Add at least four activities that will occur during the project implementation under the appropriate step(s) or phase(s) within your chosen theoretical framework to demonstrate how this theory will provide the framework for your practice change project.

Use Grammarly and current APA format for the posts. Do not repeat the prompts in the post. Provide respectful and thought-provoking feedback to your student colleagues. Ask for clarification and elaboration if needed.

Program Competencies

This discussion enables the student to meet the following program competencies:

Integrates scientific underpinnings into everyday clinical practice. (POs 3, 5)

Applies organizational and system leadership skills to affect systemic changes in corporate culture and to promote continuous improvement in clinical outcomes. (PO 6)

Uses analytic methods to translate critically appraised research and other evidence into clinical scholarship for innovative practice improvements. (POs 3, 5)

Appraises current information systems and technologies to improve health care. (POs 6, 7)

Analyzes health care policies to advocate for equitable health care and social justice to all populations and those at risk due to social determinants of health. (POs 2, 9)

Creates a supportive organizational culture for flourishing collaborative teams to facilitate clinical disease prevention and promote population health at all system levels. (PO 8)

Translates a synthesis of research and population data to support preventative care and improve the nation’s health. (PO 1)

Leads others in professional identity, advanced clinical judgment, systems thinking, resilience, and accountability in selecting, implementing, and evaluating clinical care. (POs 1, 4)

Course Outcomes

This discussion enables the student to meet the following course outcomes:

Design an evidence-based translational science project to address a practice problem. (PCs 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8; POs 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9)

Apply effective strategies in project design for managing practice problems in healthcare delivery at the micro, meso, and macro-system levels. (PCs 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8; POs 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9)

Methodology of Research Translation

The “Knowledge to Action” framework has been selected as the translational science model for this project. It comprises two primary elements: knowledge creation and action cycle. The knowledge creation encompasses problem identification, evidence review, and knowledge synthesis (Moore et al., 2021). Meanwhile, the action cycle entails adapting knowledge to the local context, evaluating barriers and facilitators, choosing and customizing interventions, implementing them, and monitoring their usage.

Activities during the Project Implementation

Knowledge creation component

The existing research on mindfulness-based stress reduction provides valuable insights into its efficacy for reducing anxiety in psychiatric patients.

Action Cycle

Adapting synthesized knowledge to the specific context of the inpatient psychiatric setting (Ten Ham-Baloyi, 2022). Assess barriers and facilitators to mindfulness program implementation.

Action Cycle (continuation)

The selection and customization of the mindfulness intervention should be based on the evaluation. Monitor closely for adherence and effectiveness when implementing the program.

Action Cycle (Sustainment)

The long-term effects of the mindfulness program should be continuously assessed and improved upon for potential expansion.

This model enables the incorporation of empirical foundations, application of leadership abilities, and utilization of analytical approaches for inventive enhancements in practice (Torres et al., 2023). It is a science-based translational project and uses effective strategies to address practice challenges in healthcare delivery.
